The new Titleist SM9 wedges come packed with exciting new features while keeping the classic Vokey look and feel. Great wedge play comes from shot versatility, distance control and spin. Materials and structure of SM9 wedges represent the most technologically advanced design in all three areas, tuned for precise contact, lower flight and higher spin.
When it comes to wedge play precise distance and trajectory control makes it a whole lot easier to get it in there close. Titleist have taken the forward center of gravity (CG) and raised it even further, promoting a more controlled ball flight and solid contact.
SM9's new grooves are cut to the edge to maximise spin. Each wedge is thoroughly inspected for utmost quality and performance, and a localised heat treatment is applied to the impact area to double the durability of the grove. All of this makes for ultimate spin and control around the greens.
Titleist Vokey wedges have always come with an array of grinds and finishes and that is no different this year. All golf swings are unique and require a unique wedge. Finding the right grind for you will help to provide perfect contact so you can be prepared to hit every kind of wedge shot whether that's in 30 degree heat off the firm ground or the driving rain off a soggy lie. See below for grind options and which one will suit you best.
All lofts come in 3 different head finishes. Tour Chrome, Brushed Steel and Jet Black. Tour Chrome retains its popular bright chrome finish. Brushed Steel is slightly richer in colour giving the wedge a more rustic polished look. Jet Black covers the whole wedge including the numbers and grind on the bottom of the club.
F Grind – The all-purpose grind that is particularly suited for full shots and shots hit with a square face. Ideal for golfers who prefer a traditional wedge sole. The F Grind is the most played sand wedge on Tour.
M Grind – A multi-purpose grind for full versatility. Designed for players that like to open and close the face to manufacture shots. Ideal for the shallower swing, and players that nip the ball off the surface.
S Grind – Narrow and versatile. A full sole that been narrowed by a trailing edge grind, giving a faster feel through the turf. Ideal for normal to firm conditions and for players that control loft with their hands ahead or behind the ball. Perfect for players with a simple technique.
D Grind – This is the player's high bounce wedge, blending versatility from heel to toe. With a high measured bounce, the D Grind is ideal for players with steeper angles of attack.
L Grind – The lowest of all the bounces. This grind is ideal for firm conditions and tight lies, designed for precise players and full shot-making versatility.
K Grind – The highest bounce in the range. A wide, full sole with enhanced camber. A highly forgiving grind for soft turf conditions. The ultimate bunker wedge.
